Caleb Williams Is Scoring More Through His Legs Than His Arm

Projection19.2pts / game
Season2026
UpdatedOctober 20, 2026

Caleb Williams enters his third season as Chicago's clear starter, sitting at QB #1 on the depth chart at age 24. His production comes from passing volume plus real rushing work. Through three games he has 91 attempts for 712 yards, a 72.5 percent completion rate and 7.8 yards per attempt. He has added 19 carries for 110 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. The arm sets his floor, and the legs have done much of the scoring so far.

Per game, the 2026 start compares well with his first two seasons. He is averaging about 20.8 PPR points, up from roughly 19.1 in 2025 and 15.3 in 2024. His 237 passing yards per game is in line with 2025's 232 and above 2024's 208. His efficiency has climbed every year, from 6.3 yards per attempt as a rookie to 6.9 last season to 7.8 now. His rushing volume has also risen, to about 6.3 carries and 37 yards per game, versus 4.5 carries and 23 yards in 2025. The one dip is passing touchdowns. He has 3 in three games, a pace of one per game, after throwing 27 in 2025 (about 1.6 per game). His current PPR rank of 95 reflects the short season's totals, not his weekly scoring.

The fantasy read is that Williams is outscoring his 19.2-point Clutch Edge projection, ranked 44th among QB/RB/WR/TE. The mix behind that is less stable than it looks. Two rushing touchdowns in three games is a lot to lean on, and he scored 3 all of 2025. If the rushing scores slow, his scoring will depend on the passing touchdowns returning toward last year's rate, which the improved efficiency suggests is possible. The added rushing attempts are the more durable part of the profile. They give him a higher weekly floor than in his first two seasons.

What would change the read: if the carries stay around six a game and the touchdown passes catch up to the yardage, his ceiling rises above the projection. If the rushing role shrinks back to 2025 levels and the touchdown passes stay at one per game, he looks more like the 19-point quarterback he was last season than the 21-point one he has been so far.
