Dak Prescott's Volume Is Up, but His Efficiency Has Slipped

Projection20.2pts / game
Season2026
UpdatedOctober 20, 2026

Prescott is the clear QB1 in Dallas, and his fantasy value comes almost entirely from his arm. Through six games in 2026 he has thrown 246 passes, or 41.0 attempts per game, completing 163 for 1,639 yards (273.2 per game) with 10 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. His legs add a little: 14 rushes for 73 yards, about 12 yards per game, and no rushing touchdowns yet. He is a pocket passer whose weekly score depends on how many dropbacks he gets and how efficient he is with them.

Compared with prior years, this season is about volume. His 41.0 attempts per game are well above his rate in 2025 (35.3), 2024 (35.8) and 2023 (34.7). The efficiency has not kept up. He is averaging 6.7 yards per attempt, down from 7.6 in 2025 and 7.7 in 2023, and closer to the 6.9 he posted across eight games in 2024. His touchdown rate is about 1.7 per game, in line with 2025 (1.8) but short of his 2023 peak (2.1). He is scoring 18.3 PPR points per game, behind his 2025 pace of 19.0 and his 2023 pace of 20.7, but ahead of the 15.6 he averaged in 2024.

The Clutch Edge projection of 20.2 points per game, 26th overall among QB/RB/WR/TE, expects more than he has delivered so far. He ranks 24th in PPR points to date. The projection relies on the heavy passing volume continuing and on his yards per attempt moving back toward the 7.5-plus he produced in his full 2023 and 2025 seasons. With 41 attempts a game, even a modest efficiency gain would lift his ceiling noticeably. That makes him a reasonable QB1-level start in season-long formats and a volume-based option in DFS.

Two things would change the read. If the passing volume drops back to his usual 35 attempts a game while his efficiency stays at this season's level, his output would look more like his 2024 pace than his projection. Because his rushing adds only about a point or two a week, there is little to fall back on when the passing game stalls. If the volume holds and his per-attempt numbers rebound, he would be outperforming his current ranking.
