George Pickens

Pickens' Targets Hold Steady, but the Touchdowns Haven't Arrived

Projection17.0pts / game
Season2026
UpdatedOctober 20, 2026

George Pickens is listed as the No. 2 at right wide receiver on Dallas's depth chart, but his volume says he is central to the passing game. Through six games he has 52 targets, about 8.7 per game, and 33 catches for 428 yards. His production comes through the air and almost nowhere else: he has no rushing attempts this season and only five across the previous three. His yards per reception have fallen each year, from 18.1 in 2023 to 15.3 and 15.4 the next two seasons and 13.0 now. That points to a lower-depth profile than his early years, with more of his value tied to catch volume.

On a per-game basis, 2026 looks like a slightly busier version of his 2025 breakout in everything except scoring. He averaged about 8.1 targets and 5.5 catches per game last season, and he is at roughly 8.7 targets and 5.5 catches now. The yardage has slipped, from about 84 per game in 2025 to about 71, but it is still ahead of his 2023 and 2024 rates of about 67 and 64. The real gap is in the red zone. He drew 21 red-zone targets and scored 9 touchdowns over 17 games last season. This season he has 5 red-zone targets and 1 touchdown in six. As a result, he is scoring about 13.6 PPR points per game against roughly 17.2 a year ago, which explains why he is 56th in PPR scoring after finishing 23rd in 2025.

The fantasy case rests on target volume that has not dropped, plus the expectation that the scoring will catch up. Clutch Edge projects him for 17.0 points per game, essentially his 2025 rate, and getting there depends on red-zone looks and touchdowns returning toward last year's pace. His current form is closer to his 2023 and 2024 per-game numbers, so the price you pay should reflect how much you trust that rebound. If his red-zone targets stay near their current rate, or his weekly targets fall back toward the 6 to 7 range of his earlier seasons, he looks more like a volume-dependent WR2/WR3 than the projection suggests. If the end-zone work returns, his steady target share gives him room to beat a salary set off his 2026 scoring so far.
