Kyren Williams

Kyren Williams Trades Carries for Targets and Scores More Per Game

Projection19.3pts / game
Season2026
UpdatedOctober 20, 2026

Williams opens 2026 as the Rams' RB1, but the shape of his workload has changed. Through six games he has 80 carries for 393 yards (4.9 YPC) and 4 rushing touchdowns, plus 30 catches on 39 targets for 217 yards and a receiving score. That works out to about 13.3 carries and 6.5 targets per game. The receiving work is now as big a part of his fantasy output as the rushing, and it has him at RB-level production good for ninth in PPR scoring this season.

Compared with his past seasons, the trade-off is clear. His carries per game have fallen each year, from roughly 19.0 in 2023 and 19.8 in 2024 to 15.2 in 2025 and 13.3 now. Targets have gone the other way. After averaging between 2.5 and 4.0 per game over the previous three seasons, he is at 6.5 this year, and his 30 receptions are already near his full-season totals of 32 to 36. His efficiency as a runner has held steady, with 4.9 YPC against 4.8 in 2025. The net result is about 19.8 PPR points per game, up from 15.5 in 2025 and 17.0 in 2024, and his best mark since the 21.3 he averaged across 12 games in 2023.

For fantasy and DFS, the value comes from the floor that the receiving role provides in PPR formats. Five catches a game add points even when the rushing is modest, and full-PPR scoring rewards that most. The Clutch Edge projection of 19.3 points per game, ranked 42nd overall across QB/RB/WR/TE, is close to his current pace, so the projection isn't pricing in a big jump or a big drop. One thing to watch near the goal line is his red-zone carries, which are down to about 2.5 per game from roughly 4 in 2023 and 2024. His touchdown output so far has held up despite that drop.

The main risk is the target share. If it drifts back toward the 3-per-game range of his earlier seasons while his carry volume stays at its current, lower level, his weekly total would fall closer to his 2025 output. If the receiving role holds and the red-zone work bounces back toward past levels, his current pace looks sustainable or even a little conservative.
