Bijan Robinson's Ground Game Surges as His Receiving Role Shrinks

Projection21.2pts / game
Season2026
UpdatedOctober 20, 2026

Robinson is Atlanta's RB1, and through six games of 2026 he's getting there mostly on the ground. He has 111 carries for 641 yards, about 18.5 attempts and 107 rushing yards per game, at a career-best 5.8 yards per carry. His 20 red-zone carries in six games (roughly 3.3 per game) give him a steady path to the end zone. He has four rushing touchdowns and one receiving score so far.

The per-game fantasy output barely moved from last year, but how he gets it has. He's averaging about 21.4 PPR points per game, nearly matching 2025 (about 21.8) and ahead of 2024 (about 20.1). The difference is in the mix. In 2025 he was a featured receiver, with 103 targets, 79 catches and 820 yards, or about 6.1 targets and 48 receiving yards per game. This season he's at 4.5 targets and 24 receiving yards per game on 27 targets and 20 catches. That's closer to his 2024 profile, when he drew 72 targets but carried a heavy red-zone load (59 carries, 14 rushing touchdowns). The 2026 version pairs that goal-line usage with better rushing efficiency than in any prior year. That efficiency has climbed every season, from 4.6 YPC as a rookie to 4.8, 5.2 and now 5.8.

For fantasy and DFS, the value now rests on rushing volume, efficiency and red-zone work rather than the catches that padded his floor last year. He's PPR rank 7 this season, and the Clutch Edge projection of 21.2 points per game (#19 overall among QB/RB/WR/TE) is roughly what he's producing now. The risk is that a 5.8 YPC is above anything he's sustained over a full season. If it slides back toward his 5.2 from 2025 without the targets returning, his weekly total leans harder on touchdowns.

The upside case is a rebound in receiving work. If his targets climb back toward last year's rate while the carry share and red-zone role hold, he has room to outscore his projection. Watch his weekly target count as the clearest signal of which direction this goes.
