Week 4 Recap: Packers and Cowboys Trade 80 Points and Nobody Wins as Patriots Crush Carolina

Written by a language model from the week’s box scores.

The story of Week 4 belongs to Green Bay and Dallas, who put up 40 points apiece and still couldn't settle it. The 40-40 tie was the closest finish and the highest-scoring game of the week, and it was a fantasy jackpot. Dak Prescott went 31-of-40 for 319 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jordan Love answered with 31-of-43 for 337 yards and 3 scores of his own. If you started either quarterback, or stacked this game in DFS, you had a very good Sunday.

The individual lines were just as loud. George Pickens was the top receiver on the field with 8 catches for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns, and he looks like a legitimate alpha in this Dallas passing game. Josh Jacobs did everything for Green Bay: 22 carries for 86 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns, plus 4 catches for 71 yards. That's 157 scrimmage yards, and he led the Packers in both rushing and receiving. On the other side, Javonte Williams handled 20 carries for 85 yards and a score. That kind of workload makes him a reliable RB2 floor play.

The blowout came in Foxborough, where New England beat Carolina 42-13. Drake Maye was nearly perfect at 14-of-17 for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Stefon Diggs turned 6 catches into 101 yards. Rhamondre Stevenson was the letdown, with just 38 yards on 9 carries in a game script that should have favored him. Carolina's offense never got going. Bryce Young finished 18-of-30 for 150 yards and a touchdown, Chuba Hubbard managed 49 yards on 10 carries, and rookie Tetairoa McMillan led the Panthers with 4 catches for 62 yards. It wasn't the only lopsided score, either. Houston shut out Tennessee 26-0, Denver held Cincinnati to a field goal in a 28-3 win, Detroit handled Cleveland 34-10, and Kansas City pulled away from Baltimore 37-20.

The tie took the closest-finish crown, but the rest of the slate was full of nailbiters. Chicago survived Las Vegas 25-24. Seattle edged Arizona 23-20, Pittsburgh got past Minnesota 24-21, and the Giants held off the Chargers 21-18. Atlanta and Washington combined for 61 points in a 34-27 Falcons win, which belongs on your list of shootout environments to revisit.

What it means going forward: Jacobs is a locked-in RB1 with real receiving volume, and Pickens belongs in your lineup every week as long as Prescott is slinging it like this. Both Love and Prescott showed ceiling games, so treat any matchup involving these offenses as a stack candidate. Maye's efficiency and Diggs' 100-yard day make the Patriots' passing game worth a closer look. Stevenson's thin usage is a warning sign. In Carolina, McMillan is the only pass catcher earning trust in a struggling offense.
